Trump Expected to Declare National Emergency Over Coronavirus

Earlier this week, President Trump conducted on Oval Office address to try to quell the fear of the coronavirus pandemic.

His speech was widely criticized by the left, creating even more panic, so NBC News is now reporting that Trump is going to officially declare a national emergency later today.

Support the Process, Not the Fearmongering

This is the proper move by President Trump, especially considering the mass cancelations of festivals and sporting events throughout the country and world.

This situation is a serious one, being made more serious by the snafu regarding testing kits, but it can still be managed and as stated numerous times, the majority of responsibility for not spreading this virus lies on us to take preventative measures.

The trolls have started to attack our publication for downplaying this situation, which is far from the case, but I wanted to make my position very clear.

While I will be the first to admit I am disappointed in sporting events being canceled, I support the decision because of the irresponsibility far too many people have shown regarding self-quarantining to limit the spread of the virus.

The greatest risk we have of spreading this virus is in highly congested areas where people come in close contact with each other.

Since people don’t seem capable of following the precautions, this is a necessary step, much like the travel bans were enacted to prevent those infected from coming into our country.

What I do not support, however, is the politicizing of this virus by anyone on either side of the aisle.

When Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) tells people incompetence kills, he is not doing the nation a favor.

Nobody is arguing the fact the lack of testing is a major issue, but this does not fall solely on Donald Trump.

As I have stated in prior articles, these testing challenges were experienced in 2009-10 during the H1N1 outbreak and nothing has been done to fix them on a grand scale.

Even Dr. Fauci has acknowledged this problem, but this administration did remove much of the red tape that has been creating this problem.

That is not a defense of Donald Trump, just a harsh reality that this is more of a systematic error than an administrative error.

That will not stop Democrats, including Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, from using this problem to attack Trump during this election cycle.

Fear is a great motivator, and they are trying to use it to their advantage.

The reality is that once testing catches up, we are probably going to have tens of thousands of cases, most of which will recover.

Will we see a death toll comparable to H1N1? Honestly, we have no idea.

The good news is that once the warmer weather hits, and many parts of the country are already seeing this, the spread of the virus is expected to naturally slow.

We are also hopeful that a treatment will be available very soon, which will also slow the progress until a vaccine comes to market.

Point being, these closures and Trump declaring a national emergency are not meant to cause more panic but to prevent this virus from spreading more rapidly.

Everyone needs to take a breath and stop listening to people that do not have a clue what they are talking about regarding this virus, which includes virtually every politician on the left and right talking about this right now.

If you want the truth, listen to Dr. Fauci, listen to the CDC, and listen to the World Health Organization. In most other cases, all you are hearing is noise meant to create panic and discord in this country.
