While administration officials work hard to put measures in place to fight a possible pandemic event related to the coronavirus, Democrats are trying to politicize and weaponize the issue.
Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), who also happens to be a medical doctor, called the actions of Democrats “disturbing” after hearing them all rail against Trump this week.
A Plan is in Place
After hearing the press conference, it is pretty obvious the administration has been working on this problem for some time.
Situations are being monitored and it is very likely our experts were evaluating the situation to see just how much funding they would need to fight this problem.
The moment Trump announced his plan, though, Democrats pounced, saying he did not ask for enough money and that it took too long to do anything about it.
Pelosi even went so far as to say now it is too late, giving off a sense of impending doom for the entire country.
It should be noted, though, that our medical teams in this field are already working on a vaccine, a vaccine that is roughly a month ahead of schedule, according to the information we receive during Trump’s press conference.
Additionally, quarantine barracks are under construction and travel restrictions are in place.
Dems think throwing a big check is the way to go, but I would be willing to wager the number Trump asked for is what his team told him they needed.
And, if they needed more, I would wager Trump would have been willing to go to bat to get more as soon as it was needed.
After all, even our government cannot spend $2.5 billion overnight.
Disturbing Behavior
This is a dream scenario for Democrats, though, because they are now all but hoping a pandemic outbreak occurs here in the United States.
The panic that has been created has crushed the market, with some experts saying we are getting dangerously close to a global recession over this virus.
If that happens, Dems get their wish because Trump can no longer hang onto the economy to support his re-election.
Senator Barrasso is sickened by this, saying now is not the time to play partisan politics.
He stated, “I’m a doctor. My focus is on the health of the American people.
“This should be a bipartisan concern and commitment.”
Something I found very interesting about his comments was Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D-N.Y.) attendance during related briefings.
While Schumer has been railing against Trump, Barrasso stated Schumer has not attended a single briefing he has attended on the coronavirus.
Trump also called out the Dems for their behavior, stating, “But we have to work together.
“Instead, she [Pelosi] wants to do the same thing with cryin’ Chuck Schumer.
“He goes out and he says the president only asked for $2.5 billion, he should have $8.5 billion.
“This is the first time I’ve ever been told that we should take more.
“Usually, it’s we have to take less.”
He further stated that Dems are “trying to create a panic and there is no reason to panic … all they are trying to do is get a political advantage.
“This isn’t about political advantage. We’re all trying to do the right thing.
“They shouldn’t be saying, ‘This is terrible. President Trump isn’t asking for enough money.’ How stupid a thing to say.”
For the record, leading into the administration’s announcement, neither Pelosi nor Schumer had proposed any financial plan to address coronavirus.
From where I am sitting, all they did was sit and wait to pounce, which proves Trump’s assessment is right and as usual, the welfare of Americans is far from the top of the agenda for Democrats.
As usual, it is about nothing more than regaining the White House and the power in D.C.
