The Texas Rangers are taking advantage of Governor Abbott’s order to open the state to 100 percent.
The MLB club just announced that for opening day, the stadium will be packed with fans.
As far as I know, this is the first major sports team to announce it will have 100 percent capacity since the pandemic started.
Let’s Play Ball!
Rangers CEO Neil Leibman stated, “We’re very confident we won’t be a super-spreader event.
“With all the protocols that we’re following, we’ll be extremely responsible and provide a very comfortable environment for somebody to enjoy the game without worrying we’re going to be a spreader event.”
While the stadium is open to 100 percent capacity, all transactions in the stadium will be cashless transactions to help keep contact at a minimum.
Additionally, the Rangers are asking fans to keep their masks on during the games other than when they are eating and drinking in their seats.
Rob Matwick, the team’s executive vice president, is asking for fan cooperation so the Rangers can set the standard regarding packing a stadium during a pandemic.
He stated, “We will need fan cooperation, there’s no doubt.
“The good news is the numbers are trending down.
“Can we drop our vigilance? No. We need their cooperation.”
The Rangers took it on the chin last season, having just built a new stadium and carrying out a season without a single fan in the stands, so we can understand why management is taking advantage of the new order by Abbott.
There is only one thing left to say… Play Ball!
