Romney Ostracized from Major Conservative Event

Mitt Romney is now officially a Republican in name only.

The despised RINO, after voting with Democrats for witnesses during the impeachment trial, has been disinvited from this year’s CPAC event.

The Blowback Begins

CPAC is one of the biggest conservative events of the year and a great opportunity to boost a profile and to drive fundraising.

Speeches given during this event are plastered all over YouTube and social media, giving politicians a massive amount of free exposure.

That will not be something Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) enjoys this year.

After Romney sided with Democrats to vote for more witnesses, CPAC’s president took him off the guest list.

Matt Schlapp tweeted, “The ‘extreme conservative’ and Junior Senator from the great state of Utah, @SenatorRomney is formally NOT invited to CPAC 2020.”

Measure Defeated

Romney not only loses his invite to CPAC, but he also lost the battle to extend the impeachment trial.

Democrats needed four Republicans to vote with them, and they were only able to get two, so the vote failed 51-49.

Ranking Democrats ran to the microphones to whine about the unfair and rigged trial, but at least half the country stood up and cheered that this circus should now be over by the end of next week.

The only procedure left prior to voting for acquittal is individual statements to be made by Senators to explain their voting.

This process should take about 16 hours if every Senator takes advantage of his or her allotted time.

Once that is over, the acquittal vote will be held. This is now expected to happen on Wednesday or Thursday.

Assuming that the vote goes as expected, both parties will get what they came for.

Democrats have something to whine about for the next 10 months leading into the election and Donald J. Trump can claim that he was acquitted of all charges, rendering the House impeachment mute.

The only real losers in all of this are the American people, who have once again had millions of our tax dollars wasted on a political exercise that was nothing more than theater from the outset.

Every politician gets TV time and boosts their profile for fundraising while more of our tax dollars get flushed in the process.

Perhaps now Congress can get back to the business of working for We the People but considering the fact numerous Democrats have already said they will look for ways to impeach Trump again, that is highly unlikely.
