When Trump signed the recent omnibus bill, making it very clear he did not want to sign it, he did so on the premise that Congress would come through and approve a bump to $2,000 on the stimulus check.
The House listened and quickly passed a bill that would have bumped the $600 payment in the bill to $2,000.
We knew there would be some resistance in the Senate on this, but nobody ever really thought that would come from McConnell.
With Trump being behind the bill, most, including myself, though McConnell would rubber-stamp it.
Instead, McConnell blocked the vote, saying he wants to bring the issue into more “focus” before putting it on the floor for a vote.
Trump immediately went off…
Unless Republicans have a death wish, and it is also the right thing to do, they must approve the $2000 payments ASAP. $600 IS NOT ENOUGH! Also, get rid of Section 230 – Don’t let Big Tech steal our Country, and don’t let the Democrats steal the Presidential Election. Get tough! https://t.co/GMotstu7OI

While I am not necessarily for the stimulus, many, including Trump, believe that without this bump being approved, Democrats will win both seats in Georgia that are up for election in January.
Keep in mind, all of this is happening while McConnell is getting ready to overturn Trump’s veto on the defense spending bill.
Between that veto and the possibility of Republicans losing control of the Senate due to McConnell’s actions, McConnell may very well have just won his last election.
If Dems do win both of those seats, all fingers will be pointing at McConnell and his career is OVER.
