Two of the traditions of an incoming administration is for the sitting president to hold a solo press conference and address Congress.
Generally, a joint session is held in February for a new president.
Additionally, an incoming president for the last 100 years has held a solo press conference within about a month of taking office… Joe Biden has done neither of those.
Keep Him Protected
We have all seen how disastrous it can be for Joe Biden when he is required to talk off the cuff or give a long speech.
Biden spoke for about 20 minutes during his Texas trip, and it was a complete disaster.
State of the Union speeches typically last about an hour, sometimes longer, so we completely understand why Biden’s handlers are worried about him getting in front of the cameras for such an extended period.
Now, however, his administration has resorted to not even allowing questions at events, such as what happened during the Democrat caucus on Wednesday when the White House cut the feed after Biden gave a 10-minute prepared speech.
We are now more than 40 days into Biden’s first term, and he has shunned a tradition that goes back 15 administrations and more than 100 years.
The longest any president has gone during that span is 33 days before giving a solo press conference.
The media went nuts if Trump did not have a presser for a month, yet Biden has not even had his first one yet!
Even former Obama officials are starting to wonder what is going on here.
Brett Bruen, White House director of global engagement under former President Barack Obama, stated, “He talks about the role of journalists as being a critical one, and yet, access to a president is really the barometer by which we judge the importance that a president assigns to the media.”
It sounds to me that Biden thinks about as much of the media as he does the American taxpayer… very little.
