Now that the charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped, both the mayor and the entire police force are furious.
Democrat Mayor Rahm Emanuel stood side-by-side to decry the decision to drop the charges against Smollett…
To add insult to injury, the Mayor and the Police Chief only found out about the decision when it was announced the media.
For some reason, the prosecutor’s office did not see fit to inform either the mayor or the police chief about the most high-profile case the city has had in recent years.
Rotten from Top to Bottom
There was no mistaking the fact Mayor Emanuel was absolutely furious about this decision.
That alone was shocking to many, considering how liberal he is.
The fact he was this upset lets you know just how ludicrous Smollett getting off without so much as a slap on the wrist really is.
Emanuel stated, “Where is the accountability in the system?”
“[This case] sends a clear message that if you’re in a position of influence and power, you’ll be treated one way and if you’re not, you’ll be treated another way,” he added.
So, where exactly is the accountability for Smollett and for the prosecutor’s office that is letting him off the hook?
Why is the justice system easily manipulated by those with influence and money while the everyday man has to walk a straight line?
Mind you, this was no normal crime, but a crime that was portrayed as a hate crime against a black homosexual in a city that is struggling to keep its image clean.
Record Sealed
Even more upsetting in the decision is the fact the records for the case have been sealed.
We will never know what deal was reached or why this case was dismissed.
While Democrats are crying about seeing every piece of paper Mueller saw, nary a word is being said right now about Smollett’s case.
Meanwhile, Rahm has called the case rotten from “top to bottom.”
Clearly, some weight was thrown around here and Mayor Emanuel absolutely must get to the bottom of this.
Was it some type of payoff?
Did some late witness come forward to change their minds?
How can a prosecutor allow a man indicted on 16 counts simply walk free without so much as a trial or even a brief explanation as to why this happened?
One can only wonder if this were a conservative actor, how likely is it this outcome would have taken place?
Smollett should be behind bars. Instead, get ready for him to do the talk show circuit on how he has been victimized yet again.
