When this campaign started, Biden stated he wanted to be judged on his record.
Now, the constant defense that he uses is his relationship with Barack Obama and the fact he was Obama’s VP.
When Biden used Obama’s name yet again in his defense, Booker shut him down cold, stating, “You invoke President Obama more than anyone in this campaign.
“You can’t do it when it’s convenient and dodge it when it’s not.”
Can’t Have It Both Ways
Biden thought his decades in the Senate and his time as VP would be enough to get him by during this election.
He found out very early on, though, that his Senate record is actually one of his biggest weaknesses.
Even though the legislation he passed at the time had overwhelming support, many of these policies are pointed to as the root of the problem minorities are facing today.
Front and center in this arena is the Crime Bill that was written by Biden and passed during the Clinton administration.
After Biden took several shots from his fellow Democrats attacking his record, Biden stated, “I find it fascinating, everybody is talking about how terrible I am on these issues.
“Barack Obama knew exactly who I was.
“He had 10 lawyers do a background check and everything about me on civil rights and he chose me and said it was the best decision he ever made.”
Booker than gave the response above, calling him out for constantly using Obama’s name to bail him out of a tough position.
Still Leading
Biden is still way ahead of the pack, but these constant attacks are being watched very closely by the Republican side of the aisle.
As it stands now, Biden would easily win the primary, then face off against Trump.
Even as tough as Biden’s opponents are being on him, they are not nearly as tough as Donald Trump will be when they face off against each other.
Dems are giving Trump the playbook to beat Biden heads-up and they don’t even realize it.
If Biden is unable to stand up to the scrutiny now, imagine what will happen when he is standing across from Trump and the President will not let him off the hook so easily.
