Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appears to be losing control of the House.
A piece of legislation that was introduced to send a message to the GOP fell flat on its face and Pelosi was forced to withdraw it, mostly due to the new breed of Democrats trying to take over the party.
Costly Stunt
The legislation in question was a budget bill, but it failed to even deliver a message to the Democrat party.
This type of “message” bill is typical when one party wants to start the ball rolling on negotiations.
In this case, Democrats were proposing budget legislation that would have significantly increased government spending for discretionary programs.
The far-left Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), led by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), wanted the budget spending increased even more, though.
The two sides of the Democrat party starting infighting and Pelosi pulled the legislation off the floor.

The CPC is a Democrat group consisting largely of the new far-left contingent.
Two of the more prominent members of the CPC are Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn).
While Pelosi and company only wanted to raise the limits to get the attention of the Republicans, the CPC was pushing for almost $70 billion in added spending while also reducing and capping defense budget spending.

Bernie Sanders’ campaign also chimed in on the battle, siding with the CPC.
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), who is currently serving as Sanders’ presidential campaign co-chair, is demanding the party fight harder to get more money for social programs.
There clearly is a rift in the party between the old guard and the new breed.
Pelosi and company are trying to rein in the demands of the new breed but all she seems to be doing is kicking a hornet’s nest.
Moderate Pushback
The battle within the party has re-energized the moderates in the party as well.
Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) was upset with Pelosi’s bill, but for a different reason.
She thought the bill proposed too much spending.
Murphy stated, “The system is broken and somebody has to be the adult in the room and try to get as back on track.”
That sounds like something we would hear from Senator Rand Paul rather than someone in the Democrat camp.
Pelosi is less than 100 days into her current term as the Speaker and it is safe to say it has been anything but smooth.
By all appearances, the party drifts further apart between the three factions more and more every day.
It is exactly what Republicans needed to happen in order to be able to take back the House and extend their lead in the Senate in 2020.
