California Democrats are once again proving they simply think they are better than everyone else.
Several companies tied to Governor Newsom received one hell of a bounty from the Payroll Protection Program.
Nine businesses associated with PlumpJack, a business that Newsom started in 1992, received nearly $3 million in PPP loans.
Newsom’s interest in his business is currently in a blind trust, but that does not necessarily mean the businesses did not receive favor simply for being tied to Newsom.
What is really odd, however, is the amount of money these businesses received.
Collectively, nine businesses in that employee range would have received a little more than $1 million, so the question that needs to be asked is why these companies received about three times the national average.
Sean Moulton of the nonpartisan Project on Government Oversight stated, “It seems to be a small business but it got a lot of money.
“I’m not sure how the company justifies taking that much money when there were a lot of companies looking to get assistance.
“You hope they’re using it wisely because there’s an opportunity cost there — that money didn’t get used for another small business that may be out of business now.”
He added, “It’s unexpected for a 14-employee organization to get nearly $1 million.
“The purpose behind this program was to save entry-level jobs, people going in and working on that paycheck.
“That was what we put this out there for, to stop unemployment.”
