Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke has been purposely withholding how much money his campaign raised after he announced… until now.
On Monday, O’Rourke revealed his campaign had raised a stunning $6.1 million in the first 24 hours after he announced his candidacy.
Until that figure was released, Bernie Sanders was the only other candidate even in the same universe at $5.9 million.
Don’t Get Too Excited
While there is already a lot of talk that O’Rourke may be the chosen one for the Democrats this year, there is no reason to think he has the staying power to actually even get as far as the nomination.
To be honest, we don’t even know where the money came from, which would be a more telling factor.
While other campaigns have revealed donor information, O’Rourke has yet to comply.
Additionally, we must remember that O’Rourke could not even win a Senate seat in Texas, so how can he be expected to win a country when he can’t even carry his own backyard?
Already Controversial
O’Rourke seems to be someone that cannot get out of his own way to become successful.
Sitting in the lap of privilege as a young man, he ended up throwing it all away.
If not for his father, O’Rourke would probably have served considerable jail time.
His associations in the past continue to haunt him to this day.
His radical writings as a teenager, his past DUI, his sexist comments, is this really the man the Democrats want to run out against Donald Trump?
The answer thus far to that question has been no.
Numerous Democrats have already been critical of O’Rourke and we would imagine it will be difficult for party leadership to throw their weight behind him.
That will more than likely go to Bernie Sanders or Kamala Harris, the two leading candidates right now.
Having said that, it will be more than entertaining to see this charlatan go about his business until he gets booted out of the race.
