It is party tradition to not challenge a sitting president, but Jeb Bush is hoping to change that.
On Saturday, the failed presidential candidate begged someone, anyone, to run in the primary against President Trump to give voters another option.
Dangerous Policies
Jeb Bush has made it a habit ever since he lost this election to try to tell conservatives what they should be thinking.
Now, as the 2020 election seasons starts to kick into high gear, Bush is telling everyone that Trump’s policies are “dangerous,” and someone needs to challenge him.
Bush stated, “I think someone should run just because Republicans ought to be given a choice.”
“It’s hard to beat a sitting president, but to have a conversation about what it is to be conservative, I think it’s important.”
All this coming from a man that was out of the presidential race before it really got started in 2016.
Clearly, most conservatives in this country do not believe Bush is a good representation of what a conservative should be.
Backbone to the Party
You don’t have to like President Trump to agree that he has added some much-needed backbone to the party.
For decades, this party has been slowly sliding backward and cowing to the Democrats.
Proof of that came during Trump’s first two years in office.
With control of the House, the Senate, and the White House, Republicans failed to push through legislation to get financing for the border wall.
Now, Trump is having to jump through hurdles to secure the financing he promised to Americans when running for President.
Those first two years were a chance for Republicans to show Democrats they were back, and they meant business.
Instead, most Republicans in office were far too worried about being liked and being politically correct than fulfilling the wishes of We the People.
That needs to change, and it needs to change now.
We don’t need someone else to run for president, Mr. Bush.
What we need is our elected representative to actually represent the people that put them into office in the first place and to stop preventing President Trump from doing his job.
