In a trial, as the defendant, you can call any witness you want to present a defense.
In a House impeachment hearing, you only get to call witnesses the Democrats want you to call and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is telling Republicans their list is a “sham.”
Not Gonna Happen
When I first saw the list submitted by Republicans, I knew it was not going to fly.
Atop the list was Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, who was Hunter’s business partner and fellow board member on Burisma.
With Joe Biden being the front runner in the Democrat primary, did anyone really think Schiff would allow Hunter to testify?
Schiff knows if something negative came out of this testimony, it would possibly kill Biden’s campaign.
Schiff actually hinted at that when he announced he was going to be refusing most of the list submitted by Republicans.
He stated, “This inquiry is not, and will not serve, however, as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigations into the Bidens or 2016 that the President pressed Ukraine to conduct for his personal political benefit, or to facilitate the President’s effort to threaten, intimidate, and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm.”
It Served Its Purpose
Even though the witnesses were declined, the list served its purpose for Republicans.
If nothing else, it proved that Trump is not going to get a fair shake in the House.
This should serve as a wakeup call for every American as to how biased this impeachment is as well as how corrupt our political system has become.
Senate Republicans have definitely taken notice, as Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has already come forward to say he is going to crush this effort to impeach Trump if it turns into a Senate trial.
If Dems are not willing to give Trump a fair shake, he stated this impeachment will be “dead on arrival” once it hits the Senate.
